NHL Tickets - He Shoots, He Scores!
Scoring NHL tickets is any hockey fanatic's dream. The NHL has always been a major player in the world of ice hockey. Despite a series of recent strikes, the league has made a comeback and NHL tickets are in as high demand as ever.
Let's Play Hockey!
The NHL as we know it today was established in 1917. It comprises of thirty teams from both Canada and the United States, further divided into fifteen-team conferences and five-team divisions. The league was formed in Canada and would go through a long series of changes and expansions to get to where it is today. While teams from both countries participate, hockey played NHL style is still widely considered a Canadian affair.
This is because some of the major draws for NHL tickets have been Canadian teams and Canadian players. A study of the 2006 player roster has shown that more than half of the league's players are from Canada. While American players have become more predominant, the presence of East European players has also increased. This too could be from the Canadian connection as a number of teams like the Edmonton Oilers have hosted players from Eastern Europe.
Shining Glory, Crushing Defeat
For fans that have been regular buyers of NHL tickets, it is interesting to take a look back on past champions of the NHL. This is because teams that once seemed virtually unstoppable at one point seemed to be really struggling a few years later. There are two shining examples of this. One is the Edmonton Oilers, who were completely unstoppable during the 1980s. This was largely due to the presence of a hockey legend called Wayne Gretzky. But a single great player can't make a team and in the case of the Oilers, Gretzky was backed by an amazing set of players like Grant Fuhr, Yari Kuri and Mark Messier. However, things drastically changed for the team when Gretzky was traded to the LA Kings. By then, the majority of the team that had made the Oilers so great had also dissipated. Since then, the Oilers haven't been able to regain the glory of those days.
Perhaps a more poignant case is that of the Toronto Maple Leafs. If the Oilers dominated a decade, the Leafs dominated several decades, notching up Stanley Cup wins almost consecutively. They formed the basis for one of the biggest fan followings in the NHL and ever since 1946; every single Leafs game has been sold out. This is despite the fact that in recent times the Leafs have certainly not played like they used to.
Today, the NHL is bigger and better than ever and hockey fans right across the globe are waiting for things to heat up on the ice, NHL style. With so many strong teams, speculation is high as to who will lift the Stanley Cup. Some team tickets may be hard to get and for others, you might have to stand in line for a while. But you can avoid all that by ordering your tickets through the internet. You can book your NHL tickets with an authorized online ticket vendor.
